The Creating with the Stars blogger contest (via East Coast Creative). Only Bloggers need apply. Time to stop dreaming and start doing!
So here goes with a project I finished last fall. It started out as a worn wooden wheelbarow planter that was given to us by a friend.
My munchkin could often be found using it as a bunny cart among other things.
Needless to say, it had seen better days and in his hands it was soon in several pieces. I loved the patina of the old wood and was not ready to toss it out. It was in too many broken pieces to fix, but I wanted to give it a new life. When I looked at the pieces that were left, I was inspired to add large pieces of bark to the edges of the bottom of the wheelbarrow that managed to stay in one piece, and turn it into a mini display easel.
Here it is with a grouping of autumn accessories I was working on at the time.
And here it is with a more recent project displayed on it...
A monogram that I cutfrom the page of an old encyclopediaandglued onto a small canvas that I had previously disassembled, painted over and distressed. I love the wheel peeking out on the top. What do you think?
Stay tuned for an upcoming project out of the remaining pieces of this wheelbarrow...
thank you Lucy - absolutely thrilled at what you did with that. You literally re-invented the wheel barrow - blew new life into it and recreated its purpose. Isnt this what this contest is all about. Creating or re-creating.
ReplyDeleteAnd not to mention how the eco lovers will be all over this! You gave me and my family some great ideas on what to do with what look like 'old pieces' but old is also good!
I love this idea and your creativity. You should definately win this contest!!! You get my vote!!! Keep the creative juices flowing.
ReplyDeleteLove ya, Kim
That is amazing. I have no talent for that ... sigh!
ReplyDeleteThanks Katherine, I needed the encouragement since I didn't make it to the final 12 contestants in the contest. But... maybe next year!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks fabulous! I love how it looks with the bark around the edges, very rustic. Great recycling/re-purposing project.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my little spot on the net.
Debbie :)
