Farragoz Clock Face

Farragoz Clock Face
Happy to finally post and share my second finished Farragoz project… it's still waiting for the perfect  hands and clockwork to fit it so that it will grow up to be a functional clock, but until then I present you my Farragoz Clock Face…
I am taking the online course to learn how to make my own gesso, milk paints, oil paints from ages old recipes in order to get an authentic worn patina on whatever project I happen to be working on. The clock face happens to be the Second Module in the course. You can see my first finished Module for the course, an icon of St. Michael here.

Below is a compilation of photos that give you a general idea of a few of the steps involved. I began with an MDF pastry dough board that I picked up while thrifting. It was a pale golden wood hue. So the picture on the top left already has the first step added to it. And the steps progress as you move clockwise.

image
Of course the final and my favourite step is the addition of patina by distressing! And you can add as much or as little distressing as you like. Since I like patina, I went heavy on the distressing. Here are a few closeups of the details...

Above is the inspiration piece for the project done by Tania of Farragoz. It is a full clock face on a square piece of wood.

Since I like to be different and put my unique twist on things, I chose to make mine round and to zoom in on the design.  I am so happy with the way it turned out. What do you think? If you would like more information on the Farragoz Online Course click here.

When I began this project, I made sure to work on several other boards simultaneously so as to make the best use of my time. Stay tuned for more posts on clock faces cause I am cuckoo for clocks! You?

    1. Thanks, I was a little disappointed that the mechanism I bought for it didn't work out with the thickness of the wood. On the hunt for the perfect fitting one.

  2. Fabulous, Lucy! I love how you've made this your own by going for the round face and emitting the black border. Your distressing of it is just perfect. You managed to achieve the chipped, scuffed and pitted look. It looks very authentic! I look forward to seeing your next project.
