My cottage sign is made using a wood pallet for a frame. The wood was already in the shape you see, so I simply cut a piece of veneer to fit the back.
I lightly sanded the wood so that there were no splinters and then I whitewashed it with some off white paint.
Once dried, I projected the letters that I had printed onto the wood, traced them with a pencil and hand painted them.
The sign was looking a little bare, so I went to my stash and found a metal wreath that I had paid less than a dollar for at the thrift store. I unwound it and attached it to the bottom. Much better!
Here is a closeup...
I dry brushed some brown and pale green paint on the vines to tie them in with the letters.

And here it is after I distressed it with sandpaper...
What do you think? Does it look better with the distressing or without?
