Painted Wood Mason Jar Door Hanger

Painted Wood Mason Jar Door Hanger
I'm so happy to be joining a group of talented ladies for a monthly Silhouette Challenge. I love mason jar projects and after living in "The South" for more than 5 years, I wanted to make something that reflected the Southern charm and manners typical of Southerners. What better than a door hanger in the shape of a mason jar to welcome guests with...
I had a friend cut out the shape out of 1/4 inch plywood. Then I painted both sides with some white Waverly chalk paint from Walmart.

I designed the lettering on my Silhouette Designer program. I tried to imitate the fonts that you see on a "Ball" Mason Jar.  I wanted to make sure that I could vary the size of the stencil to fit any sized door hangers I was making for an upcoming craft show.

I used dollar store shelf liner to cut out the stencil with my Silhouette Cameo machine and then transparent shelf liner to transfer it to the piece. I used a makeup wedge and the same white paint to stencil on the lettering.

I painted the mason jar in an aqua color mixing Waverly chalk paint colors I had on hand and the grays for the lid. Now all that was left to do was to drill some holes on the top to add some wire.

I fed the wire from behind and twisted it around a pencil to keep it in place on both sides. I added some red gingham ribbon for a pop of color onto the other piece of wire. Now I have the perfect welcome for our Southern guests.

I hope I have inspired you to get creative with your silhouette machine and make your own door hanger.

Blessings,
Lucy
